Shaun Yong is a Zurich-based organist, pianist, and harpsichordist.
Currently pursuing his Master's degree in organ at the Zürcher Hochschule der Künste, Shaun’s teachers include Tobias Willi (Principal) and Andreas Jost (Improvisation). He has given concerts in the annual Zürcher Orgelspaziergang and the Musikfest Zürich West. On the harpsichord, Shaun studies with Valeria Jegorova, and has played a number of Baroque chamber music concerts. Other courses he has participated in include orchestral and choral conducting, as well as voice with Dorothee Labusch.
In March 2019 Shaun was appointed Choirmaster and Organist at St Andrew’s Church, Zurich. There, he directs the music at Zurich’s only Anglican church. He plays the services and conducts the choir, focusing mainly on the rich repertoire of the Anglican choral tradition.
Prior to his move to the Continent, Shaun earned the Bachelor of Music degree with honours from Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in London. There, he studied the piano under the supervision of Mikhail Kazakevich and organ under Stephen Disley and Daniel Moult. He was a finalist in the conservatoire's Chopin prize. He performed in venues around the UK, including at the Royal Greenwich International Early Music Festival.
